Appreciate Freedom & Liberty? You might be a Tea Partier!

Americans who identify with the Tea Party should also come to be known as the "Sons of Liberty".

That was the name of the group/movement that was responsible for the original Boston Tea Party, which was one of the major incidents leading up to the American Revolution.

Myself, as a Cuban American (or hispanic/latino whatever), I mainly just consider myself a Tea Partier because I have an understanding of the perils of communism, and appreciate our American principles of freedom & liberty above anything else.

I also realize that while we do need some government to organize our society and culture,freedom/liberty and government order/control run counter to each other.

The more power we the people give to govt, the less freedom we the people have.  More laws, more regulations, and more taxes equals less personal freedom, less entrepreneurial freedom, and less financial freedom.

The American Constitutional principles of freedom and liberty are the primary driving principles of all the Tea Partiers I've ever communicated with, and as far as I'm concerned, we should start referring to ourselves as the "Sons of Liberty".

Maybe we can up our game this upcoming mid term election and outdo our "Shellacking of 2010" with the "American Revolution-esque Conservative Election Win of 2014"?

What do ya say... Sons of Liberty?

Can we at least agree that...

So much division, so much talk of what we disagree about. People hate Congress right now because of their inability to come together, no matter how much each party will blame each other for the high disapproval.

Can we at least agree that we need Congress to pass and Obama to sign common sense legislation that treats everyone fairly, creates job opportunities, & gets govt out of our social lives?

Zimmerman not guilty, how we know

The shooting death of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman was not a hate crime.  How do I know this? Let me explain...

A jury of 6 impartial jurors was hand picked in agreement by the prosecution and the defense.  These 6 women sat through days worth of eye witness testimony, first hand accounts,  recordings, and investigator and expert testimony.  It was their sole job to determine if they could find a reasonable doubt to show that George Zimmerman killed Trayvon in hateful malice, or if in fact he shot for the purpose of defending himself from "great bodily harm".

It would have been easy for them to assume that Zimmerman was a hot headed racist vigilante who just wanted to kill a black kid, but fortunately juries are sequestered and shielded from the main stream media and the racial activists who have stoked tensions,  even as Trayvon 's parents call for calm.

I'm sure it was very difficult for the jury to admit that killing a 17 year old young man was justified.  But after painstakingly sitting through every shred of evidence they were compelled to admit that Zimmerman was justified in pulling the trigger.

It's tough being a conservative republican these days...

Okay,  so at first I was upset specifically at Obama for duping the majority of average (politics-clueless) 'Joe Public', who simply wants to vote for nice sounding promises like "hope" and "change" and "fairness & equality & balance" in every law they'll pass.

Then I became upset at the democrats for supporting Obama's far left agenda of mass-socializing  healthcare, increasing American's taxes and the debt that American's owe,  growing the size, scope, and power of government while further restricting American's rights and liberties, and covering for the administration amidst scandals that cost us American's their privacy and even some lives (Benghazi - RIP Ambassador Stevens, others).

And now at this point, I've become upset with the republicans too.  They have forgotten how to communicate conservative/libertarian principles in a compassionate way that can be understood clearly by the (politics-clueless) 'Joe Public'.  I appreciate that all republicans came together to oppose wasteful ineffective "stimulus" and "affordable care" policies too, but they need to also be loud and clear about offering positive alternatives that benefit all americans, regardless of their race, etc.

Simplify the messaging of why conservative & libertarian principles are best for society.

"Democrats encourage you to depend on the government, Republicans encourage you to be independent.  Which would you prefer for you and your able-bodied loved ones?".

Things like this drive the message from an average guy perspective.

"Shouldn't we constantly work to keep abortions only to situations where they're safe, rare, and as early in the pregnancy as possible to avoid unnecessary pain and suffering to the baby and mother?"

"Shouldn't the government constantly work to find ways to cut costs and expenses so that we don't place undue tax & debt burdens on the average Americans and businesses?"

Lower taxes and smaller government lead to more money and freedom for all Americans.

The debt debate:a simple analogy

Imagine you were the Governor of a small town in an earlier age and you were running the public works of building roads, bridges, and schools and providing law enforcement, healthcare, and a safety net for the truly needy.  You charge taxes to everyone for these "public welfare services" and split the tax (charge/fee/confiscation of wealth) amount charged into 5 brackets so the wealthiest pay the highest % tax and the lowest pay 0% tax (this lower bracket makes up 47% of your population).  You had the people elect a dozen representatives to vote on how exactly that money would be spent and how much could be spent and borrowed.

Fast forward a few years and you are now bringing in a hundred thousand dollars ($100,000).  The problem is your representatives have been voting for many new programs and there are those who abuse the system, so you are now in debt to nearby settlements and your people's kids & grandkids to a current total debt of about eight million dollars ($8,000,000). Your government budget also spends about 40% more than it brings in, at around $140,000 per year, running up an annual deficit of $40k per year that gets added to your town's debt.

Your debt and deficits are costing you your credibility to your debtors and they are now charging you more interest for borrowing from them.  Those foreign debtors are also buying up real estate and businesses in your town as well, while your debt-per-citizen amount increases.

Half of your representatives say that you should charge the top two tax brackets 5% more taxes (money confiscated from their homes) in order to bring in an extra $3,500 per year "in order to solve your budget problems".  The other half of your representatives say you should simply find ways to cut that $3,500 out of the current government spending on waste, abuse, and inefficiency, and not raise taxes on anyone in your current economic slump.

Which half will you side with?

(The numbers I used are real ratios relative to our actual govt budget amounts).

Questions that need to be answered about spill...

Inspect and investigate BP for their participation in any knowingly unsafe actions during their processes that may have in any way contributed to the explosion.

Inspect and investigate for any evidence that might indicate a mechanical or hardware malfunction.

If indeed the blowout preventer failed, who last inspected it and why did it fail in this instance?

What government agencies were in charge of safety and maintenance of this equipment?

Has the government done everything it possibly can to protect our gulf and our shorelines?

Is BP trying everything it possibly can to plug the leak and clean up the oil?
